$2.02 for everything! Originally $27.43

March 27, 2011 at 4:16 pm (Ongoing/Current Deals, Transactions)

I didn’t have a lot of time this morning, but I quickly stopped by Rite Aid and CVS to get a few things. Otherwise, I would have gotten a lot more things and planned it out a little better. But $2.02 still isn’t bad!

Rite Aid

9 American Greet Cards .99 each- Used $3/3 in store coupon= FREE (I didn’t even pay tax!)

CVS

Transaction #1
Physician’s Formula Concealer- $5.79, used $5 off coupon found here
Snickers Egg- .50
Used .99 Extra Care Bucks from last week
Paid .71, got $7 Extra Bucks back (from make up)!

Transaction #2
Physician’s Formula Mascara- $9.59, used $5 off coupon
3 Mountain Dew 2 liters- .88 each
Used $7.00 Extra Care Bucks from first transaction
Paid $1.31

The ad made it seem like you could get $7 Extra Bucks for the Mascara and $7 Extra Bucks for any other Physician’s Formula. I always assume this for some reason… I could have not gotten the mascara and gotten something else I needed, but oh well. I’ll probably go back later for more Mountain Dew (you can’t beat .88 each!) and other deals.

$1.97 profit!

March 23, 2011 at 1:32 am (Ongoing/Current Deals, Transactions)

Right now, Walgreens is having a sale on their Airwick Freshmatic/iMotion Air Fresheners BOGO. The one I purchased was $7.99. Be careful because there are some that are $14.99! Lift up the BOGO tag and that will tell you what price it will ring up. You can use 2 coupons in a BOGO sale, one for the one you buy and one for the one you are getting for free. I used (2) $4 off coupons, making them both free!

$4.00/1 Air Wick Freshmatic Starter Kit, any from SS 3/20
$4.00/1 – Air Wick FreshMatic Starter Kit – (homesolutionsnews.com)
$4.00/1 – Air Wick FreshMatic Starter Kit – (airwick.us)
$2.00/1 – Air Wick FreshMatic Compact Automatic Spray Starter Kit – (homesolutionsnews.com)
$2.00/1 – Air Wick Freshmatic Compact i-motion Auto Spray Starter Kit – (airwick.us)
$3.00/1 Air Wick Freshmatic Compact Odor Detect Starter Kit, any from RP 2/20

When the cashier scanned the second coupon, the computer wouldn’t take it because it was a penny over the amount. Typically, the cashier can just manually adjust it, but my cashier couldn’t/wouldn’t do it. I added on some Almay makeup remover pads on sale for $4.19. I used the $2 off Almay coupon in the Spring Beauty Coupon Book. These should be located near the beauty counter. The booklets are free to take. The pads reduced to $2.19, but when you buy ANY ALmay product, you receive a $5 RR! Total, I paid $3.03 including tax, but got $5 back. So in the end, I made $1.97!! I think I’ll be going back a few more times this week to get more free Almay makeup!!! (I’m starting to make friends with all of the workers in Walgreens…)

Shopping Trip 3/20

March 20, 2011 at 3:35 pm (Transactions)

So I intended to get more than what I did, but some things where out when I got there and certain products weren’t part of other deals.

Rite Aid-

2 Resolve Spray N Wash- $1.99 each, used .75 off and .50 off coupon, got (2) $1 +UP= .73 for both
2 Lysol Wipes- $1.99, used $1/2 coupon, got (2) $1 +UP, submit for $1 rebate= .02 money maker after rebate (paid .98)
Veet- $6.49 (was going to get the one for $4.29, but they were out), used $3 off in store coupon, used $3 off printable coupon, got $1 +UP= .49 money maker

Used $6 +UPs from past transactions, paid $1.21 oop, got $5 +UPs

Walgreens-

Almay Eyeliner- $5.59 (30% off), used $2 off coupon, used $2 off found in Spring Beauty Book, got $5 RR back= $3.51 money maker
2 Trident gum- $1.29 each, used BOGO coupon, used in store coupon for $1 off (makes each pack .79)= .29 for both

Paid $2.27 oop, got $5 RR

Total for everything- $3.48

*When you are at Walgreens you want to make sure that you hand over your MANUFACTURER coupons first, not store coupons. In the case of the gum, if I would have given the store coupon first, it would have reduced each gum to .79 and then the BOGO coupon would have subtracted another .79 making it .79 for 2.
However, if you hand the manf. coupon first, it subtracts 1.29 for the free gum (so 1.29 for 2) and then with the store coupon (making the gum .79 each) it will subtract the difference of both. So then it will subtract .50 for each gum for a total of $1. Now both are .29, or .14 each!

Buy What You Need When You Don’t Need It!

March 19, 2011 at 1:49 am (Tips)

So as you all may know, I go to the store quite often and buy what seems to be a lot of the same things. I’ve gotten a lot of paper plates, medicine, toothpaste, shampoo, and floss! I’ve learned to buy only the stuff that I know we will end up using, even if it’s a little bit down the road before we open it. But that’s okay! My goal is to slowly stock up on all bathroom stuff so I can spend my food money on just that- food. It always seems like you run out of EVERYTHING all at once, so that weekly budget for food quickly disappears after buying shampoo, toothpaste, razors, makeup, etc.

I’ve made a list of all of our bathroom items and 1 or 2 at a time, I stock up on those things as they go on sale. For example, I’ve been looking for shampoo for the guys and conditioner for the girls. Also on my list is toilet paper, and medicine for when the kids get sick. A while ago, I got 4 4-packs of toilet paper for free at Rite Aid. Later, I ended up getting a 12 pack for $3.50- almost half of what we normally buy it for. We didn’t need it at the time, but why what until you need it and spend more money? I’ve thrown the extra tp in the closet for later. Hopefully it will last until I find another awesome sale for it!

Another example is medince. Two months ago, the kids got sick and I had to run out to the store and buy some last minute medicine. I didn’t care how much it was and because of that, I ended up paying somewhere in the range of $6-$7. Doesn’t sound like a lot, but if my kids were to get sick now, I have 5 different medicines for them that I have gotten for next to nothing. As you can see, I have 2 Pedicare, 2 Little Colds, 1 Triamenic, 1 Robitussin, 2 Chloraseptic, 6 Motrin PM, and 3 Coricidin (that’s for Brian and me). Other things include 4 Afrin, and 5 Halls coughdrops. Pretty much every single one was free or almost free! I’m hoping we won’t need any medicine for a long time!

Other things I’ve managed to stock up on is toothpaste (I have 7 tubes in the picture. We even gave 1 away and are currently using 2!), deoderant (5 men’s and 2 women’s), floss (5 boxes), and baby lotion/wash (6 bottles). It sounds crazy, but as long as you have the room, you might as well buy when you have the coupons and find the sales!

If you think this is bad, you should see people such as The Krazy Coupon Lady’s stock pile and Treasure’s stockpile!

I’m currently working on contact solution, Gillette shaving cream, razor blades, Loreal hair gel, and more TP. I’ve managed to get a 1 or 2 of each, but not a crazy amount to last us awhile! Let me know if you find any deals!

*I made a mistake today and I wasn’t thinking… There is a limit of 1 Irish Spring reward ($2). Well, I got 2 in the first transaction and it didn’t occur to me that I only got $2 back instead of $4. So I got the last one and used the $2 Extra Bucks and didn’t get anything back. It wasn’t until then that I realized that I wasted my Extra Bucks. The lady told me that she couldn’t give me a refund. I was mad at myself, but I learned that I need to read more carefully next time!!

If you’re thinking that I got a lot of candy, yes I did mainly for fillers, but I give it away in my classroom! I look at it as cheap rewards for my students!

Random Shopping Trip 3/12

March 12, 2011 at 10:08 pm (Transactions)

I love going to a store for one something and finding a random awesome deal! I originally went to Rite Aid to get an extension on my raincheck, which come to find out that rainchecks at my store in Norwalk are good for as long as it takes to get the supplies in, unlike what it says online (good up to 30 days). So I decided to see if they finally got the (women’s) Dove deoderant in after almost a month of being out and they had it! I had a coupon that expired on Valentine’s Day, but they honored it because it was good at the time of the deal. So I got 2 Dove for .49.

So I remembered that I needed Folic Acid, so out of curiosity, I checked the price. It was BOGO, or 2/$7.49. So I looked to see if I had any coupons for Nature’s Made and out of luck I had (2) $2 off and a $1 off video rewards coupon. Then to make it a sweeter deal, it was buy 2, get $2 +UPs back. So I got 2 Nature’s Made Folic Acid for .49!

Then I got a 10 pack of Duracell batteries, on sale for $5.99. They had an in-store coupon for $2 off. It said $2 off a 4-pack, but the awesome manager let me use it on the 10 pack! Then I had a .75/1 coupon that I stacked with it for a total price of $3.24!

Then I went to CVS and got my free Kellogg’s cereal (I got yet another coupon from the machine!) and decided to check out the Men’s Dove deoderant deal. I heard that Dove was on sale for 2/$4, but the Men’s wasn’t showing the price. However, the Dove Men’s unscented antiperspirent/deoderant was on sale. It was NOT labeled. I had (2) $2/1  printable coupons, so I ended up getting 2 for free!

Altogether, I got everything for an out of pocket expense of $4.59. Not too shabby!
